RAVENSWOOD — Mayfestiversary will return to Ravenswood this weekend with unique beers, food trucks and live music.

The festival runs 11 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at the corner of Ravenswood and Belle Plaine avenues.

The festival is free; a $5 suggested donation will benefit The Friendship Center food pantry, 2711 W. Lawrence Ave. People of all ages — and dogs — are welcome.

The fest will offer new beer releases as well as old favorites from Dovetail Brewery and Begyle Brewing, including beer slushies made with Kriek and Framboise-style beers.

This year’s food options include wood-fired pizza from Bad Johnny’s, lobster rolls from Happy Lobster, tacos from El Zorro Tacos and Belgian waffles from All Belgium.

The festival will also have live music from The Funk Crusaders, Shukin And The Ramblers,  The King of Mars and Yacht Rock-ettes.

Dovetail and Begyle have staged the Mayfestiversary festival to benefit The Friendship Center since 2018. The nonprofit food pantry was founded in 1969 and serves residents of Albany Park, Lincoln Square, North Park, Ravenswood and West Ridge.

Last year, the Friendship Center added a walk-in cooler and a grocery store area thanks to donations from the Greater Chicago Food Depository and a $200,000 grant from NorthShore University Health System

The goal of this year’s Mayfestiversary is to raise $40,000, the equivalent to 300,000 meals, organizers said.
