West Side Moms Can Get Free Food, Furniture And More At Saturday’s Magnificent Mothers Extravaganza

CHICAGO — A Saturday event with food, furniture giveaways and more will celebrate West Side moms.

The Magnificent Mothers Extravaganza is 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday at 4924 W. Chicago Ave. Organizers will give away appliances, furniture, clothing and essentials for kids, and there will be live entertainment and local businesses and food trucks to buy from, according to a 37th Ward news release.

There will be also 1,000 free meals donated by Grubhub from Black-owned Austin restaurants, according to the organizers.

Those who wish to attend are strongly encouraged to register by 3 p.m. Friday by calling the 37th Ward office at 773-379-0960.

The event was first organized by Ald. Emma Mitts to celebrate moms in the 37th Ward and in Austin and help them feel loved ahead of Mother’s Day, which is Sunday, according to the news release.
