Rain For Mother’s Day? City Could See Weekend Of Spring Showers

The city could see a weekend full of rain showers, but sunnier weather is expected Monday.

CHICAGO — The city could see rain showers over Mother’s Day weekend.

Friday will kick things off with cloudy skies, scattered showers and possible thunderstorms throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. It’ll be warm, with a high of 68 degrees expected.

There’s another chance for rain Saturday morning, but most of the day will simply be cloudy. Temperatures will be somewhat cooler, as the city’s only expected to hit 62 degrees. Wind gusts could hit 20 mph.

Sunday is expected to see showers and thunderstorms in the morning, though they could peter out during the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service. The day will be mostly cloudy and chillier, with a high of 58 degrees expected. Wind gusts could hit 20 mph.

Monday will see the return of sunshine: The skies are expected to be clear and sunny, and it could warm up to 61 degrees.
