CHICAGO — Brandon Johnson will be inaugurated as Chicago’s mayor May 15 — and tickets to the ceremony are available now.
Tickets are free and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. You can reserve them online.
The ceremony starts 10:30 a.m. May 15 at Credit Union 1 Arena, UIC Pavilion, 525 S. Racine Ave., according to an email from Johnson’s campaign.
Doors will open 8:30 a.m. People will need to go through security to enter, and attendees are encouraged to come early.
Johnson defeated Paul Vallas in the April 4 runoff election — as well as a slew of other candidates, including incumbent Mayor Lori Lightfoot, in the Feb. 28 election — to become Chicago’s next mayor.
Johnson, of Austin, is a former Chicago Public Schools teacher and a teachers union organizer who has served as a Cook County Board commissioner.
