CHICAGO — Mayor-elector Brandon Johnson said his election Tuesday night ushers in “the revival and the resurrection of” Chicago.
Johnson, a Cook County commissioner and former teacher, eked out a win over Paul Vallas, a former Chicago Public Schools CEO. Johnson said he’ll work to unite Chicagoans and invest in all communities to improve safety, education and other facets of life.
But it wasn’t just the mayor’s race that was decided: Fourteen aldermanic races had gone to runoffs, and they now have winners.
Block Club’s reporters were at watch parties and polling places throughout the day to document the action.
