CHICAGO — The Cubs are hosting the Brewers at Wrigley Field for Opening Day — and the weather will be slightly chilly but otherwise cooperative.

The day is expected to be partly sunny, and it could hit 49 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. There will be southeast winds around 10 mph, though gusts could hit 15 mph. That means the wind could be blowing out to left field at Wrigley for the 1:20 p.m. start.

Rain is expected — but it won’t hit until later in the evening, according to the weather agency.

While 49 degrees isn’t exactly prime Bleacher Bum weather, it’s not too shabby for an opener. The coldest opening day temperature was 29 degrees April 8, 1997. The warmest opener was 65 degrees April 8, 2018, according to NBC5.

Meanwhile, the Sox are taking on the Astors in Houston, where the day will be mostly cloudy but could hit 77 degrees, according to the weather agency. That game begins about 6 p.m.

The Sox will host their home opener Monday at Guaranteed Rate Field. They’ll face the Giants starting 3:10 p.m.

Chicago’s expected to be mostly sunny and a bit warmer Monday, with a high of 56 degrees, though there’s a chance for rain, according to the National Weather Service.
