CHICAGO — The city has opened applications for its paid job and life-skills training program for young people this summer.

One Summer Chicago is open to Chicagoans 14-24. Applications are online and are open until June 2. Participants can earn $15.40 an hour, according to a city news release.

The program will run June 26-Aug. 4, according to the city.

The program will connect young people to “career exploration opportunities” with “thousands of hands-on experiences” in tech, health care, media and other fields, according to the city.

A goal of One Summer is to give youth the tools to “strengthen their own neighborhoods,” according to the city.

Last summer’s program had more than 20,000 participants who completed 1.9 million hours of “project-based learning and work experiences,” according to the city.
