LOGAN SQUARE — John Carruthers is used to serving pizzas out of his Logan Square alley — but now, he’s getting to make them on TV.

Carruthers — who has used his pop-up, Crust Fund Pizza, to sell homemade pizzas while raising money for local groups — will soon appear on Food Network’s “Chopped.” Carruthers’ episode debuts Tuesday — and he’s throwing a watch party Tuesday to, of course, raise more money for Chicago nonprofits.

“Chopped” pits chefs against each other as they use baskets of mystery ingredients to quickly craft dishes and try to stun the expert judges. The winning chef gets $10,000.

Doors open 6 p.m. Tuesday for Carruthers’ party. Attendees will watch the “Chopped” episode with Carruthers when it starts at 7 p.m.

Attendees will get a pizza from Crust Fund Pizza, as well as vegan bites from Dragged Through the Garden and other appetizers from Billy Z., according to an online listing. There will be a fried pizza dessert from Josh Kulp, of Honey Butter Fried Chicken. Beer and wine from Revolution Brewing — Carruthers’ full-time job — and Middle Brow will also be available.

There will be a silent auction, with attendees able to bid on Crust Fund drop spots, portraits from Clayton Hauck, a private barrel-aged beer tasting and more.

All of the proceeds will benefit My Block, My Hood, My City and the Friendship Center Food Pantry in Lincoln Square.

Tickets cost $100 per person and are available online.

Carruthers’ “Chopped” episode will come out 7 p.m. central Tuesday on Food Network. Click here for other dates it’ll air.
