CHICAGO — Mayor Lori Lightfoot became the first mayor to not be reelected in 40 years in Tuesday’s election as former CPS CEO Paul Vallas and Cook County Commissioner Brandon Johnson secured runoff spots.
Some alderpeople were forced to runoffs, and City Council is poised for significant change thanks to a bevy of open races that found winners.
Voter turnout was low, but there are still many mail-in ballots to count.
Block Club had photographers around the city to capture everything that happened.
