Melissa Conyears-Ervin Secures 2nd Term As City Treasurer After Running Unopposed

The treasurer's office oversees the city's $9 billion investment portfolio, and the treasurer records the city's finances and shares reports on them with City Council.

CHICAGO — Melissa Conyears-Ervin will continue in her role as the city’s treasurer.

Conyears-Ervin faced no opponents and had secured more than 398,000 votes from Chicagoans with about 99 percent of precincts reporting.

Conyears-Ervin was elected to the post in 2019. The treasurer’s office oversees the city’s $9 billion investment portfolio, and the treasurer records the city’s finances and shares reports on them with City Council.

Conyears-Ervin is married to Ald. Jason Ervin (28th). Before becoming treasurer, she worked for Allstate Insurance Corporation, according to her website.

The position has a salary of $133,545, although it is set to increase in 2023 to $160,921.
