CHICAGO — City Clerk Anna Valencia sailed to victory in her reelection bid Tuesday after running unopposed.
With about 99 percent of precincts reporting, more than 412,000 voters supported Valencia.
Valencia was first appointed to the post in 2017 by then-Mayor Rahm Emanuel, and she won her first reelection bid during 2019’s election.
The clerk’s office keeps city records and makes them publicly accessible, and it keeps Chicagoans informed about City Council happenings, posting meeting notices, agendas and minutes on its website.
The position has a four-year term and a current salary of $133,545, although that salary is slated to rise in 2023 to $161,016.
Valencia has sought other jobs, running unsuccessfully for Illinois secretary of state last year. She lost to Alexi Giannoulias in the Democratic primary.
