LITTLE VILLAGE — Ald. Michael Rodriguez won the race for 22nd Ward alderman, sealing his second term.
With all precincts reporting Tuesday night, the incumbent held more than 66 percent of the vote to challengers Kristian Armendariz and Neftalie Gonzalez, who took about 18 percent and 16 percent of the vote, respectively.
The Latino-majority ward includes most of Little Village and part of the Cicero corridor north of Midway Airport.
Rodriguez previously said the two biggest issues facing his ward are public safety and affordable housing.
Rodriguez was elected in 2019, replacing to retiring and embattled Ald. Ricardo Muñoz and becoming the ward’s first new alderman in 26 years.
Prior to being elected, Rodriguez was executive officer of the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office and director of Little Village-based nonprofit Enlace Chicago.
