DOWNTOWN — Chicago Public Schools has released its calendar for the 2023-24 school year.
Classes are set to start Aug. 21, continuing a trend of hitting the books before Labor Day, which aligns the district with suburban schools and local colleges, according to a news release.
The Board of Education approved the calendar Wednesday.
The school year will run until June 6, 2024.
That’ll cover 176 days of instruction, with 12 “professional learning days” for teachers and school staff, according to the news release.
Students will get Nov. 20-24 off for Thanksgiving and a two-week winter break Dec. 22-Jan. 5. Spring break will come March 25-April 1.
