PILSEN — Neighbors can hear from the two candidates running for 25th Ward alderperson at a Wednesday forum.

Ald. Byron Sigcho-Lopez (25th) and Chicago Public Schools educator Aida Flores are scheduled to attend the event 6 p.m. Wednesday at Benito Juarez Community Academy auditorium, 2150 S. Laflin St.

Neighbors must register online to attend.

Flores, a Pilsen native, is the sole challenger to Sigcho-Lopez, the incumbent. A third candidate dropped out and endorsed Flores last month.

Flores, a community organizer and former CPS principal, launched her campaign in August. In 2019, she came in fourth in the aldermanic election, which Sigcho-Lopez won.

Sigcho-Lopez was executive director of Pilsen Alliance, a prominent community organization, before he was elected to City Council.

The 25th Ward covers Pilsen and a small part of Little Village under the city’s newly drawn ward map.

The election is Feb. 28.
