Meet The Aldermanic Candidates For Far North Side’s 50th Ward At Forum Thursday

Residents can learn more about the candidates running for 50th Ward alderperson and 24th District Police District Council at the forum.

WEST RIDGE — Far North Side aldermanic and police district candidates will share their plans during a Thursday forum.

The forum will feature 50th Ward aldermanic and 24th District Police Council candidates. It starts 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Croatian Cultural Center, 2845 W. Devon Ave. It’s organized by the West Ridge Community Organization and is open to the public.

Candidates will introduce themselves and answer questions about crime, police reform and accountability, the ward remap process and homelessness, among other topics.

Block Club reporter Mick Dumke will moderate the event.

According to the West Ridge Community Organization, these candidates have confirmed their attendance:

  • Mueze Bawany, who is running against current Ald. Debra Silverstein.
  • David Earl Williams II, candidate for the 24th District Police District Council.
  • Veronica Arreola, candidate for the 24th District Police District Council.
  • EdVetté W. Jones, candidate for the 24th District Police District Council.
  • Marilyn Pagán-Banks, candidate for the 24th District Police District Council.
  • Cynthia McFadden, candidate for the 24th District Police District Council.
  • Daniel Wolk, candidate for the 24th District Police District Council.

The election is Feb. 28. If no candidate receives at least 50 percent of the vote, the top two will proceed to a runoff April 4.
