ANDERSONVILLE — Andersonville’s popular puzzle exchange returns Sunday as part of the neighborhood’s rebranded winter festival.
The Great Andersonville Puzzle Exchange is 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Sunday at 5601 N. Clark St. The bring-a-puzzle, take-a-puzzle event asks participants to drop off puzzles 11-11:30 a.m.
Puzzles for the event must come in their original boxes with the pieces secured in a plastic bag with no missing pieces, organizers said. Adult puzzles should be at least 500 pieces, while kids puzzles of any size will be accepted.
This is the third year for the puzzle exchange, which debuted in 2021 as a way for people to stay entertained while social distancing indoors.
This year’s puzzle exchange is one component of Fika Fest, Andersonville’s new winter fest, which is taking over for the former Hygge Fest.
The Swedish word “Fika” translates to “coffee and a cake break” and has become a social custom that sees friends and neighbors sharing time together. It’s similar to the concept of “Hygge,” which is a northern European wintertime ritual of celebrating life’s simple pleasures.
Fika Fest takes is Friday-Sunday along Clark Street in Andersonville. It includes a coffee and hot cocoa crawl 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday.
The crawl will include two routes, with each route having seven stops where special offerings will be on hand. Tickets are $25 per route and include a commemorative mug. For tickets, click here.
The Swedish American Museum, 5211 N. Clark St., will have a pop-up cafe 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday-Sunday, offering Swedish baked goods and coffee.
Lilla Barn Clothing will offer gluten-free treats at its new shop at 5535 N. Clark St., and Turkish coffee will be available at Andies Restaurant, 5253 N. Clark St.
