HUMBOLDT PARK — Residents of the 26th and 30th wards can learn more about candidates vying to represent the area by watching a forum next week.

The 26th Ward and 30th Ward aldermanic forum, hosted by neighborhood organization Palenque LSNA, is set for 9-10:30 a.m. Feb. 10 at New Hope Church, 1815 N. Kostner Ave.

Both wards will have new leaders for the first time in several years.

Ald. Ariel Reboyras is retiring after 20 years of representing the 30th Ward. Ald. Roberto Maldonado abandoned his reelection bid earlier this month, the end of a 13-year run in City Council.

JuanPablo PrietoRuth CruzJessica Gutiérrez and Warren Williams are all running to be the next alderperson of the 30th Ward. For more information about each candidate, go here.

All four 30th Ward candidates have confirmed they will attend next week’s forum, organizers said.

Vying for the 26th Ward open seat is Angee Gonzalez RodriguezJulian “Jumpin” Perez and Jessie Fuentes. To learn more about the candidates, go here.

Organizers said Gonzalez Rodriguez and Fuentes are confirmed attendees.

At the forum, each candidate will give a public statement outlining their vision for the community, then they will be asked a series of questions, organizers said.

The election is Feb. 28. If no candidate receives at least 50 percent of the vote, the top two will proceed to a runoff April 4.

Editor’s note: An earlier version of this story stated this event was open to the public. While the public was welcome to watch it online, it was only open in person to select community groups in the ward. We regret the error.
