CHICAGO — Three lions cubs have been born at the Lincoln Park Zoo.
Lioness Zari gave birth to the cubs Monday, and they appear to be healthy, according to a zoo news release. They have begun nursing and will soon begin to “be more mobile and open their eyes,” according to the zoo.
The cubs have not yet been named or had their sex determined. They’ll stay behind the scenes with Zari for several weeks as they grow.
Zari is 4 and a half years old. The cubs’ father is Jabari, a 5-year-old African lion who previously had a cub, Pilipili, with Zari. Pilipili can be spotted in the zoo’s lion habitat.
