CHICAGO — It could rain for New Year’s Eve in Chicago.

The weekend’s weather is looking cloudy but at least somewhat warmer than it has been lately after last week’s winter storm.

Friday will warm up to 45 degrees, though temperatures will dip to 38 by 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service. The day will be cloudy and windy, with gusts up to 15 mph.

Saturday, which is New Year’s Eve, will see a high of 37 degrees during the day, and it’ll be mostly cloudy.

Saturday night — when revelers are gearing up for midnight celebrations — will remain mostly cloudy, and there’s a chance for rain after 9 p.m., particularly north of Interstate 88, according to the weather agency. It will be windy, with gusts up to 15 mph. It could cool off to 34 degrees.

Sunday, which is New Year’s Day, will warm back up to 46 degrees. It’s expected to be mostly cloudy but rain-free, with wind gusts up to 15 mph possible.
