HUMBOLDT PARK — A woman has been charged in a hit-and-crash this spring that left a 7-year-old boy seriously injured in Humboldt Park.

Jennifer Garcia, 39, of the 5200 block of West Eddy Street, was charged with felony counts of leaving the scene of an accident and failure to report an accident, along with misdemeanor counts of driving on a suspended license and causing bodily harm while uninsured, police said in a news alert Tuesday.

About 6:30 p.m. April 14, Garica was driving in the 900 block of North Hamlin Avenue when she hit the boy, then fled the scene, police said.

The boy suffered serious injuries, including bleeding in his brain, a broken leg and multiple broken teeth, according to CBS, citing a police report.

The Police Department’s Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Garcia Monday near her home.

Garcia is scheduled to be in bond court Tuesday. No further information was provided.
