EDGEWATER — Sheridan Road is closed to southbound traffic at Bryn Mawr Avenue due to work on the road’s water main.
Buses and cars are being detoured from southbound Sheridan Road between Bryn Mawr and Foster avenues, according to Ald. Harry Osterman (48th). The detour began Monday and is slated to last until Dec. 16.
The road closure is needed while crews work on a water service installation for the development at 5440 N. Sheridan Road, which will bring 78 apartments to the area.
Buses being rerouted due to the work include the No. 136 Sheridan/LaSalle Express, the No. 147 Outer Drive Express and the No. 151 Sheridan.
The buses will detour to Broadway between Bryn Mawr and Foster avenues, where they will make regular stops for boarding, according to the CTA. Northbound bus and car traffic will not be impacted.
All driveways and buildings on Sheridan Road will remain accessible, Osterman said in an alert to constituents.
