8-Year-Old Fatally Shot In Douglas, Police Say

The boy was shot in his head inside a home, but police did not immediately say how the shooting occurred.

DOUGLAS — An 8-year-old boy was shot and killed Monday night inside a home in Douglas, police said.

At 5:48 p.m., the boy was inside a home with other people in the 3600 block of South Rhodes Avenue when he was shot in his head, police said.

The boy was taken to Comer Children’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

No other information about how the shooting occurred was immediately available. No one was in custody as of Monday evening.

Detectives are investigating.
