DOWNTOWN — Lettuce Entertain You Enterprises will open two restaurants inside the highly-anticipated St. Regis Chicago luxury hotel, which is opening next spring inside the city’s third tallest building.
The restaurants will be a Japanese restaurant from Chef Hisanobu Osaka followed by a Tuscan steakhouse by Chef Evan Funke, Lettuce Entertain You said in a statement.
They’ll be inside the 101-story St. Regis Chicago at 363 E. Wacker Drive, the wavy, blue glass skyscraper designed by Jeanne Gang. It was formerly known as the Wanda Vista Tower.
Names have not yet been announced for the two restaurants, but Osaka’s Japanese restaurant is slated to open in the spring, according to a company spokesperson.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to partner with Magellan Development Group to create two unique restaurant concepts at The St. Regis Chicago,” Lettuce president R.J. Melman said. “The St. Regis will be an incredible addition to downtown Chicago and we are excited that Lettuce will be a part of the opening of the brand’s first Midwest location.”
The St. Regis hotel is slated to occupy the first 11 floors of the tower, complete with 192 guests rooms and state of the art amenities such as an indoor pool with an outdoor terrace, spa, fitness room, ballroom and meeting rooms.
“Lettuce Entertain You knows how to deliver the exceptional luxury dining experiences and compelling cuisine that is expected by The St. Regis Chicago guests, visitors and residents,” Magellan principal J.R. Berger said.
Designed by world-renowned architect Gang, the St. Regis is the third tallest building in Chicago and the tallest building designed by a woman, according to NPR.
The two restaurants will be easily accessible to residents of the tower, where 393 condominiums are located. Prices for a one to five-bedroom condo range from $840,000 to $18.5 million.
In September a condo in the tower sold for about $20.56 million, the highest price anyone has paid for a Chicago-area home this year, according to Crain’s.
