The Hen, A Breakfast Spot With 20-Topping Oatmeal Bar, Opens In Lincoln Park

The Hen also offers a build-your-own-mimosa package, an oatmeal bar, avocado toasts, breakfast burgers and more.

LINCOLN PARK — A breakfast-focused restaurant has opened in Lincoln Park with a 20-topping oatmeal bar and and boozy brunches.

The Hen, 2423 N. Clark St., is a diner-inspired breakfast and brunch restaurant with a menu created by Executive Chef David Rodriguez of For the People Hospitality, which owns and operates The Duplex in Logan Square.

For the People Hospitality served as culinary and operations consultants for The Hen’s opening, according to a news release.

“We were thrilled to consult on this project and help make The Hen a dining destination in Lincoln Park,” said LeQoinne Rice, co-founder of For the People Hospitality.

Highlights from Rodriguez’s menu:

  • Cousin Vinny Omelet, made with chicken sausage, onions, roasted red peppers, spinach and pesto.
  • Rustic avocado toasts with multiple topping choices.
  • Breakfast burger with two 4-ounce premium beef patties, American cheese, bacon, a sunny-side-up egg and tomato jam.
  • Blueberry lemon cheesecake pancakes.
  • Perfectly Unkosher Skillet, made with bone-in ham, bacon, sausage, eggs, green peppers and cheddar cheese.
  • Fried chicken and waffles.

The Hen’s oatmeal bar allows guests to top old-fashioned oatmeal with 20 toppings:

  • strawberries
  • banana
  • blueberries
  • apples
  • almonds
  • granola
  • walnuts
  • chia seeds
  • flax seeds
  • pumpkin Seeds
  • coconut
  • raisins
  • dried apricots
  • dried cranberries
  • chocolate chips
  • butterscotch chips
  • honey
  • agave nectar
  • brown sugar
  • caramel

The Hen also offers a build-your-own-mimosa package with two fresh juices to choose from mixed with a bottle of Cava. Specialty cocktails include the Monkey Fist (gin, rum, agricole, citrus, coconut cream, passion fruit and sugarcane) and the Concrete Jungle (bourbon, cachaca, orgeat, mango puree and Cholula).

The Hen offers $10 breakfast burgers during happy hour 1-3 p.m. Wednesday through Monday.

Weekly specials include bottomless mimosas for $37 a person and happy hour offerings 1-3 p.m. Wednesday-Monday, including a $10 breakfast burger, half-off bottles of wine, $10 cocktails and $5 highballs.

The Hen is open 8 a.m.-3 p.m. Wednesday-Monday and can be ordered for dine-in, carryout or delivery.
