Man Tried To Grab A 5-Year-Old Girl From Her Mother In Belmont Cragin, Police Say

The man offered the girl's mother money for her daughter, then tried to snatch the girl off the sidewalk, police said.

BELMONT CRAGIN — Police are asking for help finding a man who tried to kidnap a 5-year-old girl by offering her mom money and then trying to grab her.

About noon Thursday, the mother and her daughter were walking in the 5100 block of West Fullerton Avenue when a man walked up to them, police said.

The man talked to the mother and offered her money for her daughter, police said. When the mother refused, he attempted to grab and pull the girl, police said.

The man was light-skinned and 20-25 years old, police said. He had a thin beard, was 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-7 and 150-160 pounds. He had bright red hair and was wearing a black hat, black T-shirt and red shorts.
