You Can Celebrate South Chicago With Music, Food, Balloons And More At Weekend Event

SOUTH CHICAGO — A Saturday street festival will feature local vendors, live music and more on South Chicago’s Commercial Avenue.

The Sweet Home South Chicago event will run noon-6 p.m. Saturday on Commercial Avenue from 88th to 90th streets. It will feature face painting, a bounce house, balloon twisting, a game truck — and local food for a Taste of South Chicago, according to a Facebook event. 

There will also be a back-to-school giveaway for students and resources from local groups.  

The event is being organized by the Commercial Avenue Special Service Area. Organizers hope to uplift residents and the neighborhood at large by making local businesses more visible and allowing opportunities for community networking, according to the event’s website.
