SOUTH CHICAGO — Community groups are partnering for a back-to-school giveaway this weekend in South Chicago.
Neighbors can enjoy free food, music, a gaming truck, shop from local vendors and get resources from local organizations noon-6 p.m. Saturday at 8800-9000 S. Commercial Ave., according to a Facebook post.
There will be a limited giveaway of school supplies for students, who must be present to receive the supplies.
COVID-19 vaccines also will be available. People who get vaccinated Saturday can receive a $50 gift card. There will be first, second and booster shots available. To reserve a gift card for a vaccination, people should email connecttoyaf@gmail.com. Gift cards will be held for pickup noon-1 p.m.
People getting vaccinations are asked to bring their insurance card and ID, though insurance is not needed. Walk-ins are welcome.
