CHICAGO — Northwest Side residents are encouraged to drop off school supplies this week so kids can get them this weekend at a local farmers market.

The community group Portage Park Mutual Aid is organizing the drive, according to organizers. School supplies of all kinds can be dropped off through Saturday at Moonflower Bar, 4359 N. Milwaukee Ave. The bar is open 4:30 p.m.-midnight Wednesday-Thursday and 2 p.m.-1 a.m. Friday-Saturday.

On Sunday, families can pick up supplies at the Portage Park Mutual Aid tent at the Portage Park Farmers Market. They’re available 10 a.m.-2 p.m. or until supplies run out at North Long Avenue and West Irving Park.

People interested in volunteering to transport supplies can sign up at the form here.

A list of school supplies that can be donated is available on Portage Park Mutual Aid’s Facebook page. General donations to Portage Park Mutual Aid can be made online.
