CHICAGO — Police are asking for help finding a driver who hit a 52-year-old man and then took off in Lawndale earlier this month.
The crash happened 9:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in the 4000 block of West Fifth Avenue, police said. The man was crossing the street when someone in a car hit him and took off without helping the man, police said. That driver went south on Pulaski, police said.
Another driver then hit the man, but that driver stayed, police said.
The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The victim was identified as Lawrence Ware, 52, of the 4000 block of West Carroll, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The driver of the first car was in a 2007-2012 Toyota Camry that was silver, police said. There is damage on the right front part of the car, including extensive damage to the passenger side of the windshield, police said.
Anyone with information about the driver or crash is asked to call police at 312-745-4521.
