EDGEWATER — Bands on Broadway is returning in an expanded format and in new locations this month.
Bands on Broadway will take place 6-9 p.m. Aug. 5, 12 and 19 at 15 restaurant patios in the neighborhood, according to the Edgewater Chamber of Commerce. More than 20 bands, many of them local, will participate in the event.
Participating restaurants include Uncommon Ground, Edgewater Tacos, Edgewater Mexican Cafe, Moody’s Pub and Burke’s Public House. The performances are free and can likely be heard while enjoying takeout from front porches and back yards. For in-person enjoyment, restaurant reservations are recommended.
A large concert will be held 6-9 p.m. Aug. 26 in the parking lot of St. Ita’s, 5500 N. Broadway.
The Bands on Broadway event has taken different forms and is meant to get neighbors and patrons out along the commercial corridor during the late summer. Last year’s event saw four concerts take place over a single weekend throughout the neighborhood.
“The goal of this year is to get more people to dine out at local restaurants while supporting local musicians,” according to the chamber.
