Family-Friendly Halloween Celebration, Resource Fair Coming To Hermosa Next Week

People can decorate pumpkins, learn to dance and get their flu and COVID-19 vaccinations at the Hermosa Halloween event.

HERMOSA — Neighbors of all ages can enjoy Halloween festivities and get flu and COVID-19 vaccine shot next week at Hermosa Halloween.

The event is 2-6 p.m. Oct. 29 at Nixon Elementary School, 2121 N. Keeler Ave.

Attendees can decorate pumpkins and participate in a dance class led by instructors from En Las Tablas Performing Arts. Pumpkin decorating will be available while supplies last.

People can also get their first and second doses of COVID-19 vaccines. Booster shots will also be available for eligible people. Registering online is encouraged but not required.

Free flu shots administered by the Chicago Department of Public Health and Halloween-themed family activities will start at 3:30 p.m., according to the office of Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th).

LUCHA will provide affordable housing information, and the Illinois Dental Hygienists Association will give out free dental supplies like toothbrushes, according to the 35th Ward office. 

Families can expect a Día de los Muertos ofrenda, or altar, and Mexican sweets and drinks like pan de muerto and champurrado.
