WICKER PARK — Dove’s Luncheonette reopens Monday in its longtime location near the Damen Blue Line stop in Wicker Park.

The upscale diner, 1545 N. Damen Ave., temporarily closed last year amid COVID-19 shutdowns and uncertainty within the service industry.

The restaurant is back with a refreshed food and cocktail menu, but it will only be open for breakfast and lunch, according to owner One Off Hospitality.

That includes “new interpretations” of menu items like masa pancakes and Oaxacan tamales with fried eggs.

“Since we’re closed for dinner, we’re looking forward to pop-ups, collaborations, fun events and some creative programming to keep things fresh and exciting. We’re going to focus on food, music, spirits,” One Off partner Terry Alexander said in an email.

One Off also operates Big Star next door to Dove’s and The Violet Hour across the street. The company has been behind some of Chicago’s most successful restaurants, like The Publican, avec and Blackbird.

Dove’s plans to roll out a “grab-and-go” menu with juices and food over the next few months to attract commuters and those not ready to dine indoors. The owners expect to install an expanded sidewalk patio in the spring.

Dove’s Luncheonette will be open 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Monday-Friday and 8 a.m.-3 p.m. weekends.
