AVONDALE — Residents can clean up Avondale this weekend at a neighborhood event.

The newly formed Avondale Chamber of Commerce and Ald. Rossana Rodriguez-Sanchez’s 33rd Ward office are behind the family-friendly Clean and Green set for 10 a.m.- noon Saturday.

All supplies, including shovels, trash bags, gloves and rakes, will be provided. Neighbors should check in at a table at Brands Park, 3259 N. Elston Ave., to pick up a map and supplies. Neighbors are encouraged to RSVP online.

Masks are required. Those who are feeling unwell or are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms should stay home.

Neighbors who can’t make it to the event but still clean up their block are encouraged to share photos on the Avondale Chamber of Commerce Facebook page. The event will go on rain or shine, event organizers said.

The Avondale Chamber of Commerce is a new organization. Neighbors formed the group last year to advocate for local businesses during the pandemic and as Avondale gentrifies.
