CHICAGO — The Park District is kicking off spooky season by bringing back its outdoor horror movie series, Campfire Horrors.
Movie screenings will be held 7 p.m. every Friday this month at Northerly Park and on select Saturdays at Dvorak Park, North Park Village Nature Center and Sherman Park.
There will be movies for all ages and horror appetites. Titles range from family-friendly Halloween classics like “Hocus Pocus” to 1996 horror blockbuster “Scream.”
At each screening, the Park District will set up a campfire and provide supplies for attendees to roast their own marshmallows.
Audience members are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs because all screenings will be held outdoors, weather permitting.
Participants are required to wear a mask and practice social distancing at all times.
The first screening in the series — Alfred Hitchcock’s 1963 classic “The Birds” — will start 7 p.m. Friday at Northerly Park on Northerly Island.
