LOGAN SQUARE — A man believed to be in his 20s or 30s was killed in a shooting in the heart of Logan Square early Friday, police said.
The man was shot around 4 a.m. in the 2600 block of North Milwaukee Avenue, police said.
Witnesses told police two people chased the man down, shot him in his back and his sides and then ran away, Shakespeare (14th) District police said in an initial report. The man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital, where he died from his injuries.
The man’s name hadn’t been released by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office as of Friday morning.
No arrests have been made and police are continuing to investigate using surveillance footage. Part of the incident was captured on police POD camera, according to the report.
Ald. Carlos Ramirez-Rosa (35th), who represents the area where the shooting occurred, urged anyone with information about the crime to come forward.
“It’s obviously very frightening, and if anyone has information, they should definitely let the 14th District police know,” Ramirez-Rosa said.
