BUCKTOWN — The building once home to beloved bar and dance club Danny’s Tavern is on the market.
The two-story building at 1951 W. Dickens Ave. is listed for $850,000 on Redfin. That includes the former bar space on the ground level and a two-bedroom apartment on the second floor, according to the listing.
Danny’s closed late last year during the pandemic after almost 35 years in business on Dickens near Damen Avenue.
The closure led to an outpouring of memories and nostalgia for the bar, famous for its themed dance parties and homey, living room-style interior.

The building’s listing agent with Coordinate Properties declined to comment.
On their website, Coordinate writes “the property offers an intimate commercial environment. … The space comes installation-ready and provides a rare, unique, non-substitutable and hard to imitate opportunity.”
Danny’s famous “Schlitz On Tap” neon sign was no longer affixed to the front of the building as of Monday. Coordinate’s site says the sign is “now missing.”
Danny’s owner Michael Noone said he doesn’t know what happened to the sign, and declined to comment further on the building’s sale.
