WEST LOOP — After canceling last year because of COVID-19, Pitchfork returned to Union Park Friday to kick off a weekend of music.

This year, safety precautions were put in place, including ticket holders needing proof of vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test within the past 24 hours. Some attendees donned face masks throughout the acts Friday.

Phoebe Bridgers closed out the first night of the festival, drawing a swath of fans who sang, cheered and cried along with her lyrics.
