CHICAGO — Illinois residents can check out the Shedd Aquarium for free on select days this month.

Starting after Labor Day weekend, Mondays, Tuesday and Wednesdays will be free admission days for Illinois residents at the Shedd. Residents must reserve tickets ahead of time online and provide valid proof of residency and identification when purchasing. There is a $3 validation charge when reserving free Illinois resident tickets online, according to a press release.

Illinois Resident Free days will run from 9 a.m to 7 p.m until Sept. 29 (hours on Sept. 28 will be from 9 a.m to 5 p.m). Free Illinois resident tickets provide access to all of the aquarium’s exhibits, to which attendees can purchase add-ons such as the Virtual Reality Experience.

More information about Illinois Resident Free Days and COVID-19 guidelines at the Shedd can be found here.
