ENGLEWOOD — A back-to-school event in Englewood this weekend will help students return to the classroom fully prepared.

On Saturday from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., neighbors can get free backpacks stuffed with essential school supplies like notebooks, pencils and paper at the Salvation Army Red Shield Center, 945 W. 69th St.

Five hundred backpacks will be given out. The event is open to all ages, but will cater to elementary and middle school students. Students must be present to receive the backpacks.

There also will be free food, games and music. The Salvation Army Red Shield Center congregation will perform live during the event.
