GRAND BOULEVARD — A luxury apartment complex is coming to Bronzeville.
Construction is underway on a four-story, 48-unit development at 4137-59 S. Cottage Grove Ave. The apartments are being built on a vacant lot.
The ground level will provide 9,000-square-feet of retail space and a garage with room for 27 cars. Additional outdoor parking will hold 23 cars.
A representative for the developer, D.O.M. Properties, couldn’t be reached for comment. Rents for the units have yet to be determined.
The apartments joins other developments aimed at revitalizing Cottage Grove, including 4400 Grove, The Forum, The Lillian Marcie Center, a new pedestrian bridge. There’s also a push underway to turn Bronzeville into a National Heritage Area celebrating the neighborhood’s contribution to Black American history.
D.O.M Properties also is constructing ten single-family homes at 501-525 E. 43rd St.
