KENWOOD — Pro basketball player Linnae Harper will host the second That Harper Kid Back 2 School event Friday for the Kenwood community.
Kids who attend will get book bags filled with supplies, and families will get free food, drinks and entertainment by DJ Will The Thrill. The event is 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday at Kenwood Academy High School, 5015 S. Blackstone Ave.
The city’s health department will also offer coronavirus vaccinations.
“Kids deserve a great, fresh start to the school year,” Harper said in a statement. “This neighborhood event will be the high-energy, free kickoff that the kids and their parents can enjoy.”
Harper founded nonprofit organization That Harper Kid in 2019 to teach girls and young women about basketball and life skills and to inspire them to follow their dreams.
Harper played basketball at Whitney Young Magnet High School and Ohio State University. She also played professionally with the Chicago Sky.
