Free School Supplies, Food And COVID Vaccinations Available At CPS Back-To-School Bashes

Here's the full lineup of back-to-school bashes as CPS prepares for a return to in-person learning on Aug. 30.

CHICAGO — Back-to-school bashes are back — and some will have opportunities to get vaccinated, Chicago Public Schools announced.

The district will hold several back-to-school parties to help kids and families reconnect with their school communities and get ready for in-person learning, according to a CPS news release. Students will get supplies, see people and can get vaccinated against coronavirus at some of the events.

There will be free food, games, music and activities at the parties.

Back-to-school parties with vaccinations available:

  • Friday: Tarkington Elementary School, 3300 W. 71st St.
  • Aug. 13: Michele Clark High School, 5101 W. Harrison St.
  • Aug. 20: CPS Colman Office, 4655 S. Dearborn St.
  • Aug. 27: Chicago Vocational Career Academy, 2100 E. 87th St.

All of the above events run noon-5 p.m.

Other back-to-school parties:

  • 4-8 p.m. Aug. 19: Gately Stadium, 744 E. 103rd St.
  • Noon-3 p.m. Aug. 22: Maria Saucedo Academy, 2850 W. 24th Blvd.
  • Noon-3 p.m. Aug. 24: William Finkl Academy, 2332 S. Western Ave.
  • 3-8 p.m. Aug. 25: Steinmetz College Prep, 3030 N. Mobile Ave.
  • 2-6 p.m. Aug. 26: Urban Prep Charter Academy, 425 S. Wabash Ave.

CPS starts in-person instruction Aug. 30.
