CHICAGO — The city is giving away 100 pet collars and tags Tuesday.

The giveaway is 10 a.m.-noon Tuesday at the city shelter, 2741 S. Western Ave., according to a city news release. Families can get up to two tags, with a total of 100 given away.

The tags are meant to ensure it’s easier for pets to be identified and returned to their owners if they get lost. Summer is the busiest time of the year at Animal Care and Control’s shelter, according to the city.
