HUMBOLDT PARK — Police are searching for a man who broke into a woman’s apartment in Humboldt Park last week and sexually assaulted her “multiple times.”

About 4:30 a.m. July 12, a man wearing a ski mask removed the air conditioning unit to break into the 26-year-old woman’s apartment near California Avenue and Division Street, police said in an alert issued over the weekend.

Once inside, the man searched for things to steal before assaulting the woman “multiple times” and repeatedly hitting her face and body, police said. The woman broke free and escaped from the building in search of help.

Police described the attacker as a 6-foot-tall Black man who was 25-35 years old with a thin build and short, black hair. He was wearing a ski mask and a long-sleeved black top at the time of the attack, police said.
