CHICAGO — Athletes from a Chicago gym will appear Monday night on “American Ninja Warrior.”

Two athletes from Ultimate Ninjas’ Chicago gym, 2915 W. Montrose Ave., will appear on the episode: Kevin Byrne and Jeffrey Quaiyum, according to a news release from the gym. The episode will feature 11 other Chicago-area athletes from the gym chain, which has additional locations in the suburbs and in St. Louis.

The episode will premiere 7 p.m. Central on NBC.

“American Ninja Warrior” challenges athletes from across the United States to race through a high-intensity obstacle courses. The Ultimate Ninjas gym chain is specifically tailored to the show, with experts training people on obstacles commonly used in the show, like salmon ladders.

Season 13 of the show began airing May 31. That same month, Jesse Labreck, manager of the Ultimate Ninjas’ Naperville Gym, came in second place in the first-ever American Ninja Warrior Women’s Championship.

Among the locals competing this year is 15-year-old Maggie Owens, of Naperville, one of the show’s youngest competitors.
