CHICAGO —The Park District has opened registration for the 2021 Valor Games.

The Valor Games are a free, three-day paralympics tournament for veterans and current service members who have disabilities or injuries. Participants must register by July 16 and will be notified of their acceptance by July 23, according to a Park District news release.

The tournament will run Aug. 17-19 at parks across the city.

The games require no prior experience to participate. There will be competitions in archery and rowing, a biathlon and more. The competition is open to all qualifying veteran and service member athletes, but priority will be given to those from the Midwest.

This is the ninth year for the Valor Games, which “celebrates sport as a means of empowering individuals and strengthening community,” according to the Park District. “Beyond competition, the Valor Games connects athletes with ongoing sports opportunities and resources in their local communities.”
