ROGERS PARK — The youth education nonprofit Family Matters is joining with its neighbors to host a block-wide yard sale Saturday in Rogers Park.

Family Matters will host its community yard sale 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday in the 7700 block of North Marshfield Avenue. The organization will be selling off some of its supplies and equipment from its classrooms and after-school headquarters on Marshfield. Neighbors will also join in on the yard sale activities.

Family Matters, looking to make room for some new furniture and equipment, will be selling used books, games, art supplies, kitchen items, office supplies and other items including a kid’s microscope and a fish tank, said Ann Hinterman, director of community engagement for Family Matters.

The items will sell with a pay-what-you want format. The nonprofit will accept cash as well as credit cards and Venmo payments.

A few of Family Matters’ neighbors will also be selling used items as part of the yard sale. They will likely not be operating a pay-what-you-want system.

All the proceeds from Family Matters’ sale will benefit the organization’s youth development programs, including Project RISE, which gives kids a stipend while they undertake a job skills and leadership program.
