Want To Take Over State Street? The Loop Alliance Is Looking For Groups To Participate In Sundays On State

The Loop Alliance is looking for groups that want to bring their work to State Street, whether it be hula hooping, live painting, reading to kids or anything else.

Tulips flourish across the street from the Chicago Theatre on State Street in the Loop on May 5, 2021.

CHCIAGO — The Chicago Loop Alliance is looking for organizations to set up on State Street this summer.

The organization will host Sundays on State throughout the summer, closing a portion of State Street to drivers so pedestrians can take over the road for outdoor dining, performances and more. As part of that, the Loop Alliance is looking for groups that want to bring their work to the Loop — whether it be hula hooping, live painting, reading to kids or anything else — for the events.

Any organization in the city can apply online. Applications are open through May 26.

Organizations that are selected to participate will not be charged a fee, but they will be responsible for setting up, managing and cleaning their sites.
