LOGAN SQUARE — The Logan Theatre is joining the list of neighborhood institutions making a comeback as Chicago reopens.
The movie theater at 2646 N. Milwaukee Ave. will resume screening movies May 21, the Logan Theatre team announced in an email Friday afternoon. A movie lineup and a list of showtimes will be released soon.
The owners shut down the movie theater at the start of the pandemic in March 2020, then reopened five months later with safety protocols only to shut down again just three weeks later. The owners said there weren’t enough films to screen in the midst of the pandemic.
In reopening next week, the Logan Theatre team still plans to uphold its #CinemaSafe plan, a national program it joined in the fall. The plan includes a number of safety protocols, including limited capacity, “vigilant” cleaning and contactless transactions.
