CHATHAM — Simeon High School students are handing out free plants and seeds Saturday afternoon to help make this year’s Mother’s Day celebration flowerful.
Locals — or anyone needing a last-minute plant baby for Mom — can stop by Simeon’s campus, 8147 S. Vincennes Ave., anytime between 12-2 p.m. to get the plants from students in the Summer Youth Corps program.
Students organized the free event in collaboration with Urban Growers Collective, a Black- and women-led non-profit farm. The first 200 people who show up will get a free keychain, organizers said.
